Earlier this week, Southern University of Science and Technology held a handover ceremony to officially receive its new student dormitories, as part of the Phase II campus construction project. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Lu Chun and other SUSTech officials were joined by Public Works Bureau Director Qiao Hengli, Deputy Director Huang Xu, Jiangsu Huajian Construction Director Jiang Chao and Shenzhen Bondi Consulting General Manager Zhou Yayuan. Public Works Bureau Deputy Director Huang Xu presided over the handover ceremony.

The new dormitories mark a new step in SUSTech’s development into a world-class university, rooted in China. It allows SUSTech to move forward under its mission of reforming higher education in China.

The new student dormitories are spread over eleven buildings and include catering centers, libraries and other facilities for a comfortable life on campus. There are 4 doctoral student buildings, 2 masters’ student buildings and 5 undergraduate student dormitories, all with convenient amenities that support SUSTech’s campus culture, as it strives to be a world-class university, rooted in China.

Jiangsu Huajian Construction Director Jiang Chao thanked SUSTech, the Public Works Bureau and all others involved for their hard work on the project. His company attached great importance to the construction of the student dormitories, and it was only through considerable cooperation between all parties that the dormitories have been built to the high standard within the timeframe and without any delays or accidents.

Shenzhen Bondi Consulting General Manager Zhou Yayuan spoke of the high standards that were set for the project, given that it was taking place at SUSTech. All parties worked hard to ensure that every stage of the project met and exceeded the qualifications sought by Shenzhen Bondi Consulting, in order to continue to offer first-class projects to SUSTech in the future.

Public Works Bureau Director Qiao Hengli congratulated all parties on the completion of the new student dormitories. He hoped that the spirit of hard work would be carried on in future projects at SUSTech and for other projects around Shenzhen for the Public Works Bureau.

President Chen Shiyi thanked all the project units for their efforts in the construction of the new student dormitories at SUSTech, commenting that they represent a landmark building of spiritual and cultural heritage for SUSTech. The new student dormitories are a vital step towards building a world-class research university, rooted in China, and the ongoing support of the Shenzhen Municipal Government through its associated units is essential for that. He anticipated that the future construction projects on campus would be built to similarly high-quality standards and help SUSTech achieve its goals.
