On January 27, 2021, AfterShokz made a donation to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) towards an Innovation Center for Research and Education. The ceremony was held in the SUSTech Conference Hall. Hao CHEN and Qian CHEN, founders of AfterShokz, Yurong GUO, University Council Chairperson, Qikun XUE, SUSTech President, Dongxiao ZHANG, Vice President, Yusheng ZHAO, Acting Vice President, and others attended the event.

President Qikun XUE gave a speech at the ceremony. He thanked AfterShokz for its support, noting that 2021 was a crucial year for the University to achieve first-class status. It is hoped that the Scientific Research and Education Innovation Center will strive to make new and significant breakthroughs in source innovation and cutting-edge technology research, while also playing a role in the country’s economic and social development.

Founder Hao CHEN spoke about the history of AfterShokz at the event. He said that both SUSTech and AfterShokz share the same ‘innovation’ genes. He hopes the donation towards the Science and Education Innovation Center will provide a platform for further study, research, and production of innovative technologies and products.

Zhenghe XU, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Hong WANG, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering, introduced the cooperation proposal between SUSTech’s College of Engineering and AfterShokz. They said that the College of Engineering will use the Center as a platform to conduct in-depth scientific research with AfterShokz, provide student training, and make more contributions to the development of the industry.

In view of the attending guests, Hao CHEN and Dongxiao ZHANG signed the donation agreement on behalf of the two parties.

On behalf of SUSTech, University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO issued a contribution certificate and a commemorative university plaque to Hao CHEN.

Hao CHEN and Zhenghe XU signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on behalf of the two parties.

Hao CHEN, Qian CHEN, Yurong GUO, Qikun XUE, Dongxiao ZHANG, Yusheng ZHAO, along with other attendees, unveiled the “SUSTech-AfterShokz Innovation Center for Research and Education.” AfterShokz will also set up an “AfterShokz Scholarship” in the University to support the cultivating of international talents.

At the ceremony, Qikun XUE also presented Hong WANG with a plaque to confirm her appointment as AfterShokz Chair Professor.

Yusheng ZHAO presented Hao CHEN with a plaque as an Industry Mentor of SUSTech. His deep professional knowledge and rich industry experience will provide a platform to help nurture and develop the talents of students.

After the ceremony, Hao CHEN delivered a speech entitled “The Road to Original Technological Innovation of High-tech Enterprises-Taking AfterShokz as an Example.”

Bi ZHANG, Vice President Dean of the College of Engineering, Liyang SHAO, Vice Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, faculty and students representatives also attended the event. The ceremony was presided over by Ronghui TU, Secretary-General of SUSTech Education Foundation.
