On December 7, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) worked with the Shenzhen Municipal Construction Affairs Bureau to hold the SUSTech Public Open Day. More than one hundred Shenzhen-ers came to SUSTech to see its development.
Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau Deputy Director Huang Xu and SUSTech Communications and Public Relations Director Zhang Ling both led discussions with the audience. Officials from the Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau and SUSTech also attended the event.
Shenzhen Municipal Construction Affairs Bureau Deputy Director Huang Xu said that the development of SUSTech reflects Shenzhen’s determination to support higher education across the city. He is proud of the universities that have established themselves in Shenzhen. High-quality progress within the umbrella of a pioneering demonstration zone will see more high-quality buildings that support higher-education and societal development. The achievements of SUSTech reflect its philosophy and mission. Deputy Director Huang Xu hoped that the Shenzhen-ers would provide more ideas for the creation of beautiful university campuses across Shenzhen.
SUSTech Communications and Public Relations Director Zhang Ling welcomed the Shenzhen-ers, providing a briefing about SUSTech. The ongoing support for SUSTech by the city and its people means that SUSTech will seize the opportunities of the pioneering demonstration zone and the industrial transformation of the Greater Bay Area. He pointed out that SUSTech strives to become a world-class research university rooted in China, that matches Shenzhen’s status and brings people to the city.
As part of a campus tour, the visitors were taken to the 3D campus construction sand table, the Lynn Library, and residential colleges. They could also see the new buildings that were nearly finished, including the other library and the College of Engineering.
