On September 3, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed a delegation from the Innovation-driven Development Center at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Deputy Director Bin XU led the delegation and was met by Acting Vice President and Head of the Office of Research Yusheng ZHAO.
The visit was to examine SUSTech’s ongoing collaborations, innovation, and large-scale scientific installations in Guangming Science City. SUSTech also hosted a meeting for both sides.
The entourage visited the 3D campus construction sand table and received a briefing on the development of SUSTech. Representatives of universities and research institutes across Shenzhen also joined the forum to discuss the development of Guangming Science City.
SUSTech Acting University President Yusheng ZHAO welcomed the NDRC entourage. He said that SUSTech is seizing the historical opportunities of Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area as it develops into a world-class research university. It is gathering first-class teachers that are cultivating an innovative talent pipeline for the development of science and technology. SUSTech will continue to make significant contributions to national social development.
NDRC Deputy Director Bin XU praised SUSTech for its governance and scientific achievements in recent years. He anticipated that SUSTech would continue to innovate in the management of its large-scale scientific instruments. He focused on the material genomes and comprehensive particle facilities at Guangming Science City. Bin XU looked forward to the role Shenzhen universities and research institutions will play in the development of the Guangming Science City & other large scientific projects across Shenzhen.
