On the evening of December 23, world well-known violinist Siqing LU brought SUSTech a violin recital. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO, President Qikun XUE, and some students and faculty members enjoyed the recital.

The pianist of the concert is Yingjia XUE, a famous pianist. The recital began with Paganini’s Grand Sonata in A major. The beating notes slipped from the bowstring, exquisite and moving. The whole piece was full of dynamic and contrast, showing superb skills and rich imagination. As early as 17 years old, Siqing LU won the gold medal in the Paganini International Violin Competition, the highest international violin art award, and became the first Asian to receive this award.

Then LU brought audiences a feast of music with exquisite skill and passion for music. He performed Beethoven’s Sonata No 5 in F Major Spring Op 24, Fritz Kreisler’s Tambourin Chinois, Svendsen’s Romance, and Wieniawski’s Polonaise De Concert in D Major.

In the second half of the concert, LU performed “Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai”, a masterpiece of Chinese Violin Concerto composed by Zhanhao HE and Gang CHEN. It is a classic of Chinese music in the 20th century and is known as the “symbol” of Chinese culture. At the concert, Siqing LU recreated the classic. At the special concert for the 10th anniversary of SUSTech, LU’s music made the faculty members and students excited.

Siqing LU said Shenzhen is a dynamic and open city. Although SUSTech is a University of science and engineering, he can also feel the students’ valuable artistic thinking, persistent pursuit and love of art, as well as the collision between music art and science and technology culture. LU sent his best wishes to the 10th anniversary of the University.
