Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the host venue for the seminar of the Greater Bay Area Joint Laboratory of New Energy Materials.
SUSTech Vice President Tang Tao and Director of the Office of Research Zhao Yusheng attended the meeting. More than 20 researchers from the universities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were also in attendance.
Prof. Tang Tao introduced the two key laboratories that had been built at SUSTech – the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Energy Materials for Electric Power and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Computational Science and Material Design.
He said that preparing for the joint laboratory not only requires organizing a high level of research in the Greater Bay Area but also promotes in-depth cooperation and helps develop the Greater Bay Area.
Director Zhao Yusheng introduced the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Energy Materials for Electric Power and its team members. Professor of Physics Zhang Wenqing briefed the audience about his laboratory and talked about their research with the participating professors.
Associate Vice President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Chen Guohua said that the Greater Bay Area should create an incentive for researchers to establish joint laboratories.
Director Guo Haicheng of the National Key Laboratory on Advanced Displays and Optoelectronics Technologies at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology believes that joint laboratories are a new form of scientific research. They can be established through a series of scientific research and teaching across the Greater Bay Area, including joint Ph.D. programs.
