Over the weekend, more than 60 students traveled to Humen in Dongguan as part of the Center for Social Science’s outdoor classes.

As part of the celebrations for International Museum Day that took place on 18th May, the Center for Social Sciences took the opportunity to show students the theme of “History”, “Culture” and “Remembrance.” The group visited the Opium War Museum, the Naval War Museum and the ruins of Weiyuan Fort. They were able to appreciate China’s history and culture, and reflect on the past.

The “Outdoor Class” series was first launched in 2017 by the Center for Social Sciences. They seek to provide students with a rich, diverse and intuitive practical educational experience. It allows students to experience culture outside campus. Previous trips have seen students travel to Shenzhen Guanlan Print Village, Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Museum.
