Over the weekend, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) enjoyed the presence of a delegation led by Guangdong Province Vice Governor Qin Weizhong. Senior officials from the Guangdong Provincial and Shenzhen Municipal governments were represented in the government deputation, while SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice President Lu Chun, and Acting Vice President Zhao Yusheng were the key senior SUSTech leaders to meet with Vice Governor Qin Weizhong.

As part of the meeting, SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong briefed the Guangdong Province delegation on a variety of aspects, under the assistance of the provincial and municipal governments. She added that SUSTech would continue to work hard on its mission of serving society and the Greater Bay Area by integrating Shenzhen speed with the innovative genes of Shenzhen.

Acting Vice President Zhao Yusheng went through SUSTech’s detailed development plans that covered its reform and innovation missions.

Following the report, Vice Governor Qin Weizhong acknowledged SUSTech’s many achievements in its recent history. He said that SUSTech has Shenzhen’s innovation and reflected on SUSTech’s broader spiritual mission. He pointed out that SUSTech has learned a lot in developing higher education for Guangdong Province, and that SUSTech should continue to build a world-class research university. Vice Governor Qin Weizhong hoped that SUSTech would contribute to the Greater Bay Area becoming an international demonstration zone for higher education.

Prior to the meeting, Vice Governor Qin Weizhong and his delegation were taken to the 3D campus construction planning sand table, where they got a briefing about the plans for SUSTech’s future development. They also visited the micro-nano processing platform, the Pico Center, the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center, the Quantum Device and Chip Processing Center, and the Aerospace Power Research Institute.
