SUSTech’s materials science and engineering, chemistry ranked top on 2016 China University Discipline Evaluation Report released by CUAA

On October 31, 2016, cuaa.net (CUAA) released the 2016 China University Discipline Evaluation Report. The report includes 2016 China University Discipline Rankings, 2016 China First-class University Discipline Rankings, 2016 ESI Top 1% Chinese University Disciplines Rankings and other lists.

According to the report, Chinese universities improved steadily in comprehensive strength and disciplinary competitiveness, with 27 disciplines ranked as world first-class disciplines and 50 disciplines as world sub-first-class disciplines, and these disciplines were ranked among Chinese eight-star disciplines in 2016. Notably, 745 disciplines of 187 Chinese universities were ranked among 2016 ESI Top 1% Chinese University Disciplines Rankings and 63 disciplines of 34 universities among Top 11‰. The first-level discipline of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech)-materials science and engineering was ranked among the top 10 in China as a world famous discipline; and its another first-level discipline-chemistry was ranked 18th as a Chinese first-class discipline.

Founded in 1989, with a history of at least 27 years, CUAA’s university research team is the one which has conducted the longest university evaluation and studies in China. It released China’s first university rankings in 1989 and has released Chinese university rankings for 14 consecutive years since 2003.
