Professor Chen Yuehong Made a Theme Report at the Summit of Outstanding Presidents of Secondary Schools in China

On the morning of November 13, Prof. Chen Yuehong, Director of the Humanities Center of SUSTech, made a theme report in Hengshui No.1 High School to the presidents of secondary schools from 30 provinces of China, focusing on the basis of new policy for college entrance examinations, the changes in the university reform of China and SUSTech’s outstanding performance.

On November 12 and 13, the 12th Outstanding Summit of Presidents (Lesson Preparation Group Leaders and Students) of High Schools in China opened its curtain in Hengshui No.1 High School and invited over 3,500 presidents, teachers and students of High Schools from over 30 provinces, of which nearly 1,000 president were present. Prof. Chen Yuehong, on invitation, made a theme lecture to presidents and students, respectively.

The lecture to presidents lasted for nearly two hours and ushered in the end with warm applause. Afterwards, accompanied by relevant officers of admission office, she came to hundreds of excellent students. With practical questions for independent enrolment, she analyzed the concept, orientation, focus and significance of colleges in achievement tests. Frequent laughter and applause were the sincere reply to her lecture. The lecture hall with 500-person capacity was loaded with 600 students, let alone the area under the rostrum. After completion of the two-hour lecture, lot of students kept asking Prof. Chen Yuehong for signatures or photos by her side.

 

On the afternoon of November 13, Prof. Chen Yuehong and relevant officers of admission office continued the talks with the excellent students and teachers of No.1 Hengshui High School. She made detailed explanations on the questions like enrolment, “631” model, tendency for composition title, exercises of oral composition and outside reading. All the students and teachers are unwilling to part with her even at the time of departure.
