The Shanghai Seismological Bureau Secretary Wu Jianchun and his team of 6 people visited SUSTech recently to explore the direction of seismology and marine science and technology research and cooperation opportunities. Professor Zhao Yusheng, Chair of the Scientific Research Department, Chen Xiaofei, Chair of the Earth and Space Science Department and Chen Yongshun, Chair of the Marine Science and Engineering Department, all met with the guests to hold discussions.

The meeting venue

Pr. Zhao Yousheng welcomed Wu Jianchun and his entourage to the talks, while Pr. Chen Xiaofei and Professor Chen Yongshun respectively introduced the development status and short-to-long term planning of SUSTech’s Geology and Oceanography Departments.

Wu Jianchun then introduced the development of the Shanghai Seismological Bureau and future research projects.

Signing the agreement

The two sides held in-depth discussions around seismology and marine scientific research and their relationship with technological strategy. Finally, the Shanghai Seismological Bureau and SUSTech signed a strategic cooperation agreement binding the two parties in a joint project on seismology and marine scientific research, and opening the door for future developments.
