Yesterday morning saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) President Chen Shiyi attend the launch of the Futian Technology Innovation Center (Industrial Parks), in which SUSTech agreed to build an International Center for Quantum Science. The Center will be set to provide cutting academic outcomes to support the thriving of the Greater Bay Areas in China.
President Chen Shiyi was joined by Shenzhen Mayor Chen Rugui, Deputy Mayor Liu Qingsheng, Secretary-General Zeng Pai, Futian District Mayor Huang Wei, Futian District Party Committee Secretary Lu Yuyin and Shenzhen Institute of Quantum Science & Engineering (SIQSE) Dean Yu Dapeng. Many representatives of SUSTech’s faculty were also in attendance.
Futian District Government Huang Wei signed the agreement on behalf of the five major parks and the representatives of the resident units. President Chen Shiyi signed the agreement with the Futian District Government on behalf of SUSTech to formally set up the International Center of Quantum Research.
The new Futian Technology Innovation Center will see the International Center of Quantum Research develop a large number of SIQSE faculty members focus on cutting-edge research for building an international first-class quantum science and technology research platform for the Greater Bay Area. It will also make use of Shenzhen’s industrial advantages to cultivate a new generation of quantum IT experts.
The launch of the Futian Technology Innovation Center aims to accelerate the convergence of first-class scientific and technological resources within a professional center of Futian. It also seeks to promote and develop Futian District’s technology industry. The cooperation between SUSTech and Futian District Government further promotes SUSTech’s role as a partner in urban development while providing scientific and technological support for the State Council Statement on Shenzhen.
