Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Student Union held its annual Student Congress. The Student Congress elected the chairman of the 7th Student Union, the Standing Committee of the 7th Student Congress and student representatives of the 7th Student Council. Director of Student Affairs Xue Zheng attended the meeting, along with many students and faculty members associated with the Student Union. 6th Student Union Vice Chairman Yu Jingwen chaired the Student Congress.

Director of Student Affairs Xue Zheng congratulated the Student Union for their hard work on the previous year. He hoped that every student present would work hard to become successful future leaders of the new era. Xue Zheng encouraged all the representatives to contribute to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Several student representatives gave important reports, before the Student Congress ran the secret ballot for all positions within the Student Union. Under the principles of “fairness, justice and openness,” all positions were filled in a transparent manner.

The SUSTech Student Union was founded in 2011 and consists of three institutions: Student Congress, Executive Committee and Board of Inspection. The SUSTech Students’ Association is active participants in school affairs who safeguard the rights and interests of students, and practice the purpose of serving the students wholeheartedly. The Student Congress is an important form of organization for undergraduates to participate in school management and construction, and is an important channel for broadening the connection between schools and students.
