Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed a delegation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), one of the best universities in Sweden. The delegation was led by Vice President Professor Stefan Östlund, and his delegation met with SUSTech Provost and Acting Vice President Zhang Dongxiao, Vice Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao, College of Engineering Dean Xu Zhenghe and Global Engagement Office Associate Directors. Both sides also had key representatives in attendance to take part in the meeting.

SUSTech Provost Zhang Dongxiao welcomed the KTH delegation to SUSTech and gave them a briefing about the complementary scientific disciplines of SUSTech. He hoped that there would be further opportunities for cooperation in the future, before Vice Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao explained some of SUSTech’s unique features.

KTH Vice President Professor Stefan Östlund thanked SUSTech for their warm welcome. He reflected on the youthful and energetic style of SUSTech and how that has run through the nearly two hundred years of developmental history at KTH. Professor Stefan Östlund was keen to develop partnerships with SUSTech for educational exchanges and cooperation.

Following the meeting, the KTH delegation gave a lecture to SUSTech students about joining KTH in 2020 for their masters’ program. The students were very interested in learning about this program and asked many probing questions of the delegation.

The delegation also visited the 3D campus construction sand table as part of their trip to SUSTech.

Since its founding in 1827, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. It is Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world dedicated to advancing knowledge.
