Over the weekend, Southern University and Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) held a joint academic seminar (Seminar) focusing on opportunities for graduate students at both universities. About 40 representatives from PolyU, led by PolyU President Teng Jinguang came to SUSTech, where they met with SUSTech Vice President Lu Chun.

As part of the Seminar, there were three sub-meetings based on different subject areas, attracting nearly 70 professors and scholars from both institutions. Department heads from both universities reported on their research fields and results, as well as their outcomes of guiding graduate students.

At the opening ceremony, PolyU President Teng Jinguang said he was thrilled to be back at SUSTech and hoped to continue their deep cooperation in academic research.

SUSTech Vice President Lu Chun welcomed the PolyU delegation and hoped that there would be further scientific research exchanges as part of the wider cultivation of innovative talents for the development of the Greater Bay Area.

Following the Seminar, the PolyU delegation visited the School of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the Department of Mechanical & Energy Engineering, the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, the School of Environmental Science & Engineering, and the Department of Earth & Space Sciences.

SUSTech offers joint doctoral programs with the five most prestigious universities in Hong Kong, and in September this year, SUSTech welcomed its first batch of doctoral students jointly trained by PolyU.
