In recent days, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) received approval from Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality of its Affiliated Hospital project. The first stage of construction will begin soon.
The SUSTech Affiliated Hospital is positioning itself to be an international, high-level, research-oriented hospital that will become a critical training center for SUSTech that will cultivate future medical talents for the new era.
After comprehensive research, the SUSTech School of Medicine has fully incorporated ideas from world-class hospitals around the world to develop its programme, thus resulting in high recognition among all parties concerned.
The SUSTech Affiliated Hospital will be built on the south bank of the Dasha River, along Xueyuan Avenue. The Affiliated Hospital aims to have 800 beds and is expected to be completed after five years. The site is just over sixty thousand square meters, with a total construction area of 167,600 square meters.
Once construction is finished, the Affiliated Hospital and the School of Medicine will become a new landmark on the eastern edge of campus. Implementing high-level design projects will help SUSTech realize cross-disciplinary projects while laying a foundation to build “new medicine” within the framework of becoming a world-class research university, rooted in China.
