SUSTech holds mechanics reform and innovation seminar

From November 30 to December 1, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the 2019 Seminar on the Reform and Innovation of Mechanics Education at Universities in the New Era (Seminar).

The Seminar focused on a wide range of issues relating to the development of the mechanical engineering discipline for universities and colleges in the new era. There were significant discussions about how to improve the quality of talent training while promoting reform and innovation for the modern era.

At the opening ceremony, SUSTech Acting Vice President Zhang Dongxiao thanked everyone for attending the Seminar. He gave a briefing about SUSTech and its unique characteristics. He also spent time discussing the plans for the mechanical engineering discipline at SUSTech, before analyzing the challenges ahead in the new era.

Later in the seminar, more than 70 attending scholars and experts took part in a campus tour, which incorporated the teaching and research laboratories of the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering.
