On January 3, Shanghai Jiaotong University President Lin Zhongqin led a delegation to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, President Chen Shiyi, and Vice President Zhang Dongxiao all greeted the delegation. High ranking officials from both SUSTech and Shanghai Jiaotong University all attended the meeting, which discussed discipline development, international collaboration, and cooperation between the two universities.

Shanghai Jiaotong University President Lin Zhongqin expressed his congratulations for the rapid development and achievements of SUSTech since its establishment. There are significant similarities between the two universities, and he hoped to promote more cooperation between them for their mutual development.

SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong welcomed President Lin Zhongqin, saying that Shanghai Jiaotong University has profound knowledge and rich experience in running universities. SUSTech will continue to explore the modern university system with Chinese characteristics, explore innovative talent training models, and strive to build a first-class research university, rooted in China.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi pointed out that SUSTech is based on science, engineering, and medicine, with additional concentrations in business and the liberal arts. He hoped that both universities will have more cooperation in different fields to serve the development of their cities.

Before the meeting, the Shanghai Jiaotong University delegation visited the 3D campus construction sand table, where they got a briefing about the future development of SUSTech.
