On January 11, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the Center for Credentialing & Education as they ran their Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF®) program in conjunction with Beisen Talent Management and their Beisen Career Planner (BCF) program. Student Affairs Director Xue Zheng and Vice Director Peng Zhonghua attended the opening ceremony.

Student Affairs Director Xue Zheng pointed out that the employment of graduating students is of critical importance to society, and equally, SUSTech has attached great importance in finding ensuring gainful jobs for its graduates. He hoped that faculty members participating in the training would improve their understanding and practical thinking to help students apply what they have learned. Attending faculty members were also encouraged to develop their employment guidance skills by advising students in the best possible way. Vice Director Peng Zhonghua thanked everyone for attending the training on behalf of the Employment Guidance Center.

Trainers have focused on career development theory, underpinning theory with case studies. The use of vivid language has explained the relationship between career planning, peoples interest’s and careers while discussing how to stimulate the student’s interest in career planning through a variety of activities.

The five-day training course covers a broad range of activities, including interview skills, assessment styles, and decision-making actions. The training course provides a platform for educators to learn from each other while sharing their own life planning experiences.

The Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF®) program was developed by CCE, in collaboration with the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee in the mid-1990s. The GCDF U.S. credentialing program was launched in the United States in 1997 and is the first and most notable national credential in the field of career development. The program was initially known as the Career Development Facilitator (CDF™). As the credential became more recognized domestically, acceptance abroad became prevalent. In 2001, the CDF was renamed the GCDF to illustrate its global expansion with its first international partner in Japan.

Beisen Career Facilitator (BCF) is a professional skill certification training for career planning practitioners created by Beisen Talent Management. It has localized improvements to Chinese characteristics, employment background, and environment to make the certification. It follows closer to the unique features of the Chinese economy, culture, and market to combine theoretical and practical life planning skills.
