Professor WU Jingshen Interpreted “New Engineering” at the Cloud Lecture Hall

Professor Jingshen WU, the Chair Professor and Dean of the School of System Design and Intelligent Manufacturing (SDIM) at SUSTech, delivered a special lecture with the topic of “SUSTech, New Engineering Education(NEE), Prepare for Future.”

In his lecture, Professor Wu Jingshen analyzed the trend of global social development in the era of Industry 4.0, and the characteristics of talent demand in the future, as well as the impact of these trends and characteristics on higher education models. He introduced the NEE teaching methodologies, and the challenging and groundbreaking NEE learning method SDIM are working on. He explained the definitions of “New Engineering” and “New Engineering Education” through the multiple angles of the state, the society, the industry, the schools, the universities, the parents and the students, combining with the principles and the practices of SDIM NEE.

More than 8,000 people watched the broadcast online, including students, scholars, and parents.

SDIM is one of the primary experimental platforms for the New Engineering Education at SUSTech, providing programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students. SDIM commit to renovating the engineering education, cultivating innovative and entrepreneurial talents. SDIM aims to contribute to the industrial upgrading of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the nation’s strategic goal of “Made in China 2025”.
