SUSTech takes COVID-19 fight to overseas students and alumni

Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has remained focused on the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). It has opened up a new front by looking out for its cohort of international students and alumni.

SUSTech students are taking part in academic exchanges at universities across the globe, including at top universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, and Australia. SUSTech Global has been working tirelessly to develop emergency plans to assist those students and alumni abroad.

Their communications have been clear and consistent, ensuring that each student has one contact person. The students also received up to date information about regulations in their city and country while receiving packages from SUSTech Global, including masks, goggles, gloves, and other protective equipment.

SUSTech Global also worked with many academic departments across campus to ensure that students who wanted to return to mainland China could do so safely. Consistent communication was vital and informing returning students of the different self-isolation and quarantine requirements that they would face on their return. The Working Group worked hand-in-glove with SUSTech Global and other administrative departments to solve numerous challenges. Many students have returned to China and expressed their thanks to SUSTech for their efforts in supporting their return.

The SUSTech Alumni Association toiled relentlessly with its branches around the world to ensure that all members were managing their health. Much like SUSTech Global, batches of medical masks have been shipped to North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, along with other personal protective equipment.

The receipt of these packages from SUSTech has been well-received by SUSTechers around the world. They know that SUSTech will always support them in their endeavors, and they will be excellent partners.
