On April 16, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held a drill to practice its epidemic prevention and control measures, ahead of the return of students. University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI attended the ceremony, which was part of broader efforts by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education to ensure that all educational institutions are ready for students to return to their campuses in the coming weeks.

The exercise sought to improve the preparation and emergency plans of schools and universities. All the work must be carried out in a safe and orderly manner to ensure that students can effectively prevent and control the spread of disease.

University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI asked all departments in attendance to continue to improve their plans. They must ensure that their management of different areas of campus will maintain a high life quality for students once they return to SUSTech in the next few weeks.

The exercise focused on maintaining safety in two areas where students and educators interact heavily. The cafeteria was used to simulate a medical emergency among the kitchen staff. In contrast, a lecture hall was used to represent an examination hall with a student having a coughing fit.
