On December 18, SUSTech was the host venue for the National Key Middle School Principals Seminar 2020 (Seminar) on “Change of Top Innovative Talents Selection in the Era of New College Entrance Examinations.” More than 150 principals & experts from over 90 middles schools and education authority leaders from across the country joined SUSTech for the Seminar. They were joined by Guangdong Examinations Institute Vice President Shaobin FAN, Shandong Examinations Institute Vice President Zhigang ZHANG, Jiangxi Examinations Institute Vice President Huajin SHEN, Shenzhen Education Bureau Deputy Director Li ZHAO, SUSTech President Qikun XUE, and Vice President Dongxiao ZHANG.
President XUE extended a sincere welcome to all the participants. He said that with the support of the government and community, SUSTech has explored a new enrollment method, “631” comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate enrollment, recruiting a total of over 7000 students, which get the affirmation of the government, parents, and students. XUE said that the reform of New College Entrance Examinations aims to cultivate all-around innovative talents for the country. The reform has led to a series of reforms in school running and management, teaching, and other fields in middle schools and universities, providing new opportunities, possibilities, and future for the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents.
Li ZHAO said that SUSTech is a good example of Shenzhen’s higher education reform. Time witnessed its achievement in innovative talent cultivation. SUSTech should seize the opportunity in the new era and continue to innovate the talents training model so as to provide a talents pipeline for the development of Shenzhen.

Shaobin FAN and Zhigang ZHANG shared their experience in the reform of college entrance examination in Guangdong and Shandong respectively.
In the two-day seminar, participants also visited the SUSTech campus and Huawei.
