On January 13, 2021, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) organised  the 2021 Tutors Meeting in the residential college. University Chairperson Yurong GUO, University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI, and Vice  President Dongxiao ZHANG discussed with all the tutors face to face.

At the meeting, Zheng XUE, Director of the Office of Students Affairs spoke about the general information about the Office of Students Affairs, residential colleges and each service centre. In addition, he introduced the work and requirements of tutor.

Tutors reported on their work and gave suggestions on students’ growth and accomplishment. Yurong GUO, Fengliang LI, and Dongxiao ZHANG had in-depth conversations with tutors.

University Chairperson Yurong GUO affirmed the work and performance of tutors. She said that the University would move further on supporting tutors. She pointed out that passion and the sense of accomplishment are the most important conditions for a good tutor. Tutors should position their responsibilities, set up goals and achieve goals with various resources. Yurong GUO encouraged tutors to become life mentors and close friends of students, helping them to better grow up.

Regarding the issue of further strengthening the linkage between residential colleges and schools, Yurong GUO pointed out that the growth of students has always been the most important and the core goal of SUSTech. The University has done a lot to connect residential colleges and schools and departments. To create a relaxed and tolerant atmosphere for students, SUSTech will continue to make more efforts to solve existing problems.

Fengliang LI pointed out that tutors should keep innovative and tolerant for students. Besides, tutors should keep up with the pace of young people. He said, SUSTech cares about the growth and progress of tutors, and the University hopes tutors’ team can have new achievements in professional growth.

Dongxiao ZHANG noted that tutors are an important part of talent training at SUSTech and they play a crucial role in the progress of students’ growth. He mentioned that tutors are a glorious career with very good prospects for future development.
