On the afternoon of January 19, 2021, Qingquan LI, President of Shenzhen University (SZU), Chengyan LU, Vice Party Secretary of SZU, Vice Presidents Hongbiao DU, Yonghua LI, Xueji ZHANG, and heads of the departments of SZU visited Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Qikun XUE, SUSTech President, Yurong GUO, University Council Chairperson, Fengliang LI, University Council Vice Chairperson, Dongxiao ZHANG, Vice President, Yusheng ZHAO, Acting Vice President, members of the party committee, and heads of various departments at SUSTech held talks with the guests. The event was held in the SUSTech Convention Center.

At the conference, SZU President Qingquan LI spoke highly of the rapid and high-quality development of SUSTech over the past decade. With the strong support of Shenzhen, SZU has also prospered with the development of the city. SZU and SUSTech are excellent examples of the development of local higher education in Shenzhen. He hopes that both universities will continue to build a multi-dimensional relationship, strengthen cooperation and achieve the goal of becoming world-class universities.

Yurong GUO said that the rapid and high-quality development of SUSTech had benefited from the country’s emphasis on education and the promotion of higher education reforms. She expressed her gratitude to SZU for its long-standing support for the development of SUSTech and hopes that this exchange will be a good start for the two universities to strengthen their cooperation. Both universities will play a key role in making Shenzhen a new high ground for promoting the development of higher education in China.

President XUE said that the visit of SZU was a milestone in the development of exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. Since its inception, SZU has been closely connected with the reform and development of Shenzhen and has grown together, providing invaluable experience for the development of SUSTech. After a period of exploration, both SZU and SUSTech have achieved a series of breakthroughs and formed their own distinct positioning, characteristics, and advantages. He hoped that SZU and SUSTech could further nurture their cooperation and continue on the pathway to building first-class universities.

Also at the event, University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI introduced the University’s talent training, scientific research, international cooperation, and future development plans.

After the discussion, Qingquan LI and his delegation visited the Exhibition of SUSTech Development and Achievements, Lynn Library, Lakeside College, the student dormitories, and other facilities.
