On March 9, 2021, The Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021 was launched. This year, it comprised of 606 universities from 48 countries and regions, including 91 universities from mainland China. The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has leapt up the rankings to 14th place.
SUSTech continues to make progress in the Emerging Economies University Rankings, jumping from 30th to 14th place. For the last three years, SUSTech has continuously risen in the rankings to become one of the top universities within China.
The evaluation system focus on five areas: teaching (30%), research (30%), citation (20%), international outlook (10%), and industry income (10%). This year, SUSTech performed well in citation, international outlook, and industry income.
The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021 includes only institutions in countries classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “Advanced Emerging, Secondary Emerging, or Frontier.”
