The Mid-Autumn Festival-themed event, “Make Mooncakes and Learn Chinese,” was held in one of the Chinese restaurants on campus on September 17th. It was hosted by the Center for Language Education (CLE) of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and SUSTech Global.
A group of international faculty and students participated in this themed event and gathered together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Prof. Chunmiao ZHENG, Vice Provost of Global Strategies and Director of SUSTech Global, attended the event and delivered a speech. He welcomed everyone and encouraged them to actively integrate themselves into the SUSTech community.
Dr. Yuan LI, Director of CLE, Ms. Jin LONG, Associate Director of SUSTech Global, and other members of CLE and SUSTech Global also attended the event.
This Mid-Autumn Festival event also served as the starting session of the CLE Staff Chinese course. Its instructor, Dr. Wenhui ZHU, designed the learning activities, which was well received by the participants.
In an active learning environment, the international faculty and students got to know the origin and history of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They also learned grammar in Chinese about the festival.
One of the event’s highlights included all participants making their own mooncakes under the guidance of one of the University’s chefs. It gave everyone in attendance a traditional experience of Chinese culture.
