On November 19, 2021, the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering (OSE) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held a series of science popularization activities at the Shenzhen Children Welfare Institute.

The activities were divided into two parts: a short lesson on ocean science and a reading of ocean-themed picture books so that the children could learn about the ocean.

The event was sponsored by the SUSTech Education Foundation, the Department of OSE, and the Youth League Committee.

Over the past ten years, the Education Foundation has provided faculty members and students with a platform to serve society and carry out various activities.

Since 2016, SUSTech has been involved in a poverty alleviation project in Chaotian, Heyuan City, Heping County. The foundation has been heavily involved in its success and has seen significant achievements in helping the poverty-stricken provincial village.

In June, the 2021 education support project was launched by Shuren College and the SUSTech Education Foundation at SUSTech. 29 SUSTech students volunteered to offer five online courses for students at Shuicong Primary School in Lingjiao Town, Yunnan Province. It is an online public welfare project for left-behind children in the western region. It aims to accompany and promote the development of left-behind children through the Internet technology platform.
