Recently, the School of Life Sciences at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen & Chinese Academy of Sciences (Fairy Lake Botanical Garden) jointly unveiled a joint practice base.
Jiansheng LIANG, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Life Sciences at SUSTech, and Yibiao YANG, Director of Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, attended the event.
The Fairy Lake Botanical Garden supports various disciplines through academic lectures and on-site practical teaching. It provides students with an evolutionary perspective on understanding biodiversity-related knowledge.
Faculty members and students from SUSTech visited the practice base on its opening day to carry out its first field trip. The participating students noted that the activity broadened their horizons, teaching them much about botany and enhancing their interest in life sciences.
The field trip is an important learning platform for undergraduate students studying biology at the University and highlights the importance between biodiversity and its relationship with the environment. It not only supplements the theoretical study and in-classroom experiments of zoology, botany, and other biology courses, but can also further inspire students to explore nature and life sciences.
