Xiqin WANG, President of Tsinghua University, and his delegation, which included Peixue JIANG, Vice President of Tsinghua University, and heads of related departments, recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, and other members of the University’s leadership team, including Chun LU, Xueming YANG, Hongwei FANG, and Dongfeng GU, met the guests and held exchanges with them.
President Qikun XUE expressed his gratitude to Tsinghua University for its long-term support and assistance in the development of SUSTech.
In his remarks, he said that SUSTech has formulated a set of approaches of “Three Major Development Strategies” and “Five Major Action Plans” to strive to build a new type of research university with global impact.
He hopes to further strengthen exchanges and collaboration with Tsinghua University, learn from the advanced experience and practices of Tsinghua University in areas such as talent training and scientific research, and jointly contribute to the country’s high-level scientific and technological development.
Xiqin WANG acknowledged the rapid development of SUSTech, noting that it has written a new chapter in the development of a new type of research university, and has made remarkable achievements in talent recruitment, talent training, scientific research exploration, discipline structures, international exchanges, and social services. He added that Tsinghua University could gain knowledge from these novel concepts, explorations, and experiences.
He hopes to establish long-term cooperation with SUSTech to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning between both sides. At the same time, they will jointly make major contributions to the country through science and education.
At the meeting, Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost of SUSTech, gave a brief summary of the current state of affairs of SUSTech.
Xiqin WANG and his delegation were also given a guided campus tour, visiting the newly built Third Lecture Hall, Yidan Library, and other locations.
