From June 8 to 10, the 2023 Shenzhen International High Performance Medical Equipment Exhibition was held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. Weizhong QIN, Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, attended the opening ceremony.
The exhibition was arranged by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, and organized by the Development and Reform Commission, Science and Technology Innovation Commission, Health Commission, and the Healthcare Security Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality.
It was co-sponsored by the China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI), Shenzhen Medical Device Industry Association, and the National Innovation Center for High Performance Medical Devices (NMED).
The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) brought a number of cutting-edge scientific research achievements in the field of medical devices to participate in the university achievement transformation exhibition area.
The exhibition focused on artificial intelligence (AI), wearable devices, optomechanical and electrical products, biological detection systems, life and health, and other key medical fields.
SUSTech displayed posters, videos, and sample equipment to showcase the advanced cutting-edge technological achievements in the field of medical devices of the University, highlighting its scientific research, faculty, discipline construction, and university-industry-research ecosystem innovation.
A variety of “non-contact life monitors” independently developed by the team of Wenjin WANG, Associate Professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), attracted many people to check out their display at the exhibition.
The device realizes the non-contact measurement of multi-dimensional vital signs of the human body through the optical monitoring of arterial pulses in subcutaneous tissue, including heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, blood oxygen, etc.
At present, this product is undergoing multi-center clinical verification in the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (Shenzhen People’s Hospital), Second Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital), and in departments such as the intensive care unit (ICU) and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), in expectation of promoting NMPA Class II certificate registration and medical device transformation.
Fengwei AN, Associate Professor of the School of Microelectronics (SME), exhibited a natural health phototherapy cabin. The phototherapy cabin uses special technology, selecting 600-700nm red light spectrum that can quickly reach the dermis layer 15-20mm through the whole body irradiation light energy, thereby activating the regeneration of collagen cells and quickly decomposing the melanin deposited on the skin.
There were other scientific research achievements displayed by scholars from SUSTech at the exhibition, including from Xin CHENG, Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Junrui ZHANG, Research Associate Professor of the Department of BME, and Hongyi HU, Assistant Professor of the School of Design.
Hancheng LIN, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, visited the SUSTech display booth at the exhibition. He praised the University’s scientific research achievements in the medical field and acknowledged its contribution to the medical industry.
He hopes that SUSTech will continue to deepen research in the field of medicine and contribute to the high-quality development of the medical industry and Shenzhen’s growth as a highland for the leading and world-class high-end medical device industry.
SUSTech’s exhibition area attracted extensive attention from medical and health institutions, enterprises, universities, and venture capital firms, with some projects reaching cooperation agreements with visiting representatives.
It demonstrated the scientific research strength of SUSTech in the field of medical devices, built a platform for exchanges, product displays, and partnerships between the University, medical and health institutions, and venture capital firms, and promoted the cooperation of projects in the medical field and the transformation of achievements.
The Shenzhen International High Performance Medical Equipment Exhibition was divided into four areas: high-end medical device exhibition area, Shenzhen medical device industry ecological exhibition area, hospital achievement transformation exhibition area, and university achievement transformation exhibition area.
More than 300 high-performance medical device enterprises and over 20 universities and research institutes attended and took part in the exhibition. Additionally, more than 1,000 clinicians and hospital personnel participated in the event to display China’s high-performance medical device achievements.
