Yaoqi WANG, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), and her delegation recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson, welcomed the guests and held exchanges.

In her remarks, Chairperson Hong JIANG noted that the rapid development of SUSTech has benefited from the support of the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, and the Ministry of Education, and has set a new path in higher education reform.

Against the backdrop of the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), SUSTech would continue to play its role in regional economic development. She added that the two sides would strengthen exchanges in basic science of medicine, public healthcare, and scientific research, and jointly make greater contributions to the Healthy China Initiative.

Yaoqi WANG acknowledged the innovative development and achievements of SUSTech. She said that SUSTech is at the forefront of cross-integration and exploration of cutting-edge disciplines, and has valuable experience in building scientific research teams and platforms.

She hopes that BUCM and SUSTech will strengthen exchanges in life sciences, scientific research, discipline integration, and other areas, and jointly explore the integration and development of modern science and traditional Chinese medicine.

At the meeting, Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson, summarized the current state of affairs of SUSTech.

Yaoqi WANG and her delegation were also given a tour of the University, visiting the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center and other locations on campus.
