The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 2023 Congress on Evolutionary Computation (2023 IEEE CEC) was held in Chicago, USA, in June 2023.

Hisao Ishibuchi, Chair Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), was awarded the 2023 Enrique Ruspini Meritorious Service Award.

The award recognizes Prof. Hisao Ishibuchi’s outstanding contributions and leadership to improve the reputation of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine (CIM) and facilitate technical activities of the society. Only two scholars worldwide received this honor this year.

The IEEE CIM is an internationally renowned journal in the field of computational intelligence design and applications, and Prof. Hisao Ishibuchi served as the editor-in-chief of IEEE CIM from 2014 to 2019.

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) is a professional society under the IEEE umbrella. It is committed to promoting the theory, design, application, and development of computational intelligence (CI) technologies and methods, and plays an important role in promoting the development of computational intelligence.

Prof. Hisao Ishibuchi is an international leader in the field of computational intelligence, and his main research interests include evolutionary computation, fuzzy systems, neural networks, and their hybrid systems.
