From August 25 to 27, the Final Stage of the 9th National College Student Basic Medical Research and Innovative Experimental Design Competition was held in Chongqing.
It attracted more than 20,000 scholars and students from 235 universities and colleges, with the number of participating teams reaching 4,266.
The participants from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) comprised of undergraduate students majoring in Clinical Medicine and Biomedical Sciences from the School of Medicine.
After three stages of competition at the university, regional, and national levels, SUSTech students won eight medals, including one gold, one silver, and six bronze, setting a new record for the University.
The participating students said that in the process of taking part in the competition, they improved on teamwork, skills to organize and present scientific research ideas clearly in public, and a scientific attitude toward acquiring experimental data.
The 9th National College Student Basic Medical Research and Innovative Experimental Design Competition is a national event for university students sponsored by the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Basic Medicine under the Guidance of the Ministry of Education and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Collaborative Working Group of Basic Medicine Education.
It is one of the highest-level student competitions in the field of basic medicine in China, offering students in medical colleges and universities across the country with opportunities to demonstrate innovative research design.
The year’s event also marked the first time a medical student from SUSTech won a national gold medal. In previous years, students from the University won one silver and three bronze medals. Congratulations to all of the winners this year!
