On September 28, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Affiliated Experimental School held its unveiling ceremony.

Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Yurong GUO, former University Council Chairperson of SUSTech, Xiaoning LIU, Deputy Director of the Nanshan District Education Bureau, along with all teachers and staff members, attended the ceremony.

President Qikun XUE congratulated everyone involved in the successful opening of the SUSTech Affiliated Experimental School, and introduced the plans and measures for resource optimization and sharing between SUSTech and the Affiliated Experimental School.

He said that a first-class university needs first-class affiliated schools and first-class basic education, and SUSTech has always regarded providing basic education as an important mission.

President XUE stressed that the University would continue to support the development of the Affiliated Experimental School and explore the infinite possibilities of the future with teachers and students.

He believes that with the joint efforts of SUSTech and Nanshan District, the SUSTech Affiliated Experimental School will be able to become an experimental, demonstrative, open, and humanistic innovative school with distinctive features of science and technology education.

Xiaoning LIU delivered a speech at the ceremony, highlighting that the group running of schools has always been a pioneering and successful experience in the high-quality development of education in Nanshan District.

He expects the SUSTech Affiliated Experimental School to use its resources to maximize progress in curriculum integration, talent sharing, talent training, and other areas.

Jiahong TANG, Principal of the SUSTech Affiliated Education Group, also spoke at the event, discussing the development history of the group.

He added that the SUSTech Affiliated Experimental School would take advantage of SUSTech’s “Double First-Class” high-quality resources and platform to explore the implementation of “university and basic education integration” to cultivate high-level innovative talents.

Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson, Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost, Qin YE, Member of the Presidential Executive Council and Secretary-General of the SUSTech Education Foundation, Jianghong SHI, Member of the University Council, and heads of related departments also attended the unveiling ceremony.

Before the ceremony, the leaders and guests were given a campus tour by Jiahong TANG and interacted with the children.
