On October 21, the 2023 China Collegiate Programming Contest (CCPC) for women kicked off at the Chongqing College of International Business and Economics.

Students from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), which included Yifan ZHOU from Shuren College and Jiayi ZHOU & Luyao CHEN from Shuli College, won the national championship. It marks the first national championship prize that the University has won in the CCPC.

The team composed of Zixuan WANG from Shuren College and Jiayu ZHANG from Shuli College also won the gold medal in the contest.

In this contest, 186 teams from 129 universities and colleges across the country competed on the knowledge and skills of testing algorithm design, logical reasoning, mathematical modeling, programming implementation, and computer system capabilities.

Two teams from SUSTech participated in the programming competition under the guidance of Bo TANG, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Each team consisted of three female team members and one mentor, with the duration time lasting five hours.

The participating teams needed to use C, C++, Java or Python, and other programming languages to complete 12 programming questions and submit them to machine judges for evaluation, with the team answering the most correct answers in the quickest time winning the prize. There were gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded to the winning teams.

The CCPC is an annual event organized by the CCPC Organizing Committee. It aims to stimulate the interest of students in learning professional knowledge and skills in the field of computers, and encourages them to apply computer knowledge and skills to solve practical problems.

The contest has cultivated and selected a large number of talents for the development of the county’s information technology industry.
