Ru XI, Second-Level Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education (MOE), and Xiao LIU, Director of the Division of Study in China, recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) to conduct research on international exchanges, cooperation, and studying in China.
Li JIN, Vice President and Acting Dean of the Business School, and representatives from related departments at the University held discussions with the guests.
In his remarks, Vice President Li JIN expressed his gratitude to the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the MOE for its support and guidance to SUSTech.
He noted that SUSTech has embarked on a path of internationalization with its own unique characteristics for more than ten years.
He added that international students at SUSTech come from more than 30 countries and regions around the world, and hopes that the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the MOE can continue to provide guidance, support, and promote the high-quality development of international cooperation and exchange work at the University.
Ru XI acknowledged SUSTech’s internationalization path and achievements in international cooperation. She pointed out that SUSTech has distinctive characteristics and advantages in the internationalization of faculty members and the cultivation of international talents.
She hopes that the University can make full use of its geographical advantages in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and combined with the Belt and Road Initiative, continue to nurture more talents with international vision and global competitiveness.
Hao CHEN, Executive Deputy Director of SUSTech Global, gave a brief introduction on the current state of affairs of the University and its international cooperation.
Faculty member representatives attending the meeting also discussed their experiences of studying abroad and conducting scientific research on returning to China.
Ru XI and her delegation were given a guided campus tour, visiting locations such as the Institute of Risk Analysis, Prediction and Management (Risks-X), Lynn Library, and the residential colleges.
