On November 20, Zhu CHEN, President of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC), and his delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Other guests in attendance included Wu ZHU, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Xiandong SHI, Executive Vice President of the Red Cross Society of Guangdong Province, Jiabao WU, Second-Level Inspector of the Standing Committee of Peoples Congress of Guangdong Province, and Yingji ZHANG, Executive Vice President of the Shenzhen Red Cross Society.
Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson, and Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, attended the event and held exchanges with the guests.
Zhu CHEN and his delegation were briefed on the series of activities carried out by the Red Cross Society at SUSTech, observed an on-site emergency rescue drill, and inspected the deployment and use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on campus.
He acknowledged the work done by the Red Cross Society at SUSTech, such as emergency first aid training and blood donation, and expressed his appreciation to the faculty members and students who participated in donating blood.
In their remarks, Hong JIANG and Qikun XUE outlined SUSTech’s development and its scientific research achievements.
They noted that the University has promoted the integration of Red Cross youth work and education, and that the work of the Red Cross Society has played a positive role in cultivating and developing talents with high morals, intelligence, physical well-being, and work ethic.
Zhu CHEN and his delegation were also given a campus tour, visiting the Psychological Growth Center and the community health service center to learn more about the University’s Red Cross-related work.
