The list of winners of the iF Design Award 2024 was recently announced, with the Orthopedic Spectral Cone-beam CT equipment developed by the National Center for Applied Mathematics Shenzhen (NCAMS) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) receiving the award in the Medical/Healthcare category.

With a maximum spatial resolution of better than 50 microns, the Orthopedic Spectral Cone-beam CT has a higher resolution for biological tissues about small density changes, thereby significantly improving diagnostic accuracy.

In addition, the product can switch scenes between human limbs and small animal scanning rapidly through a detachable mobile lifting bed, greatly improving its application scope in various medical environments such as hospitals, community healthcare centers, and pet hospitals.

From pioneering internal technological advancements to achieving breakthroughs in external design, the Orthopedic Spectral Cone-beam CT demonstrates the visionary innovation of the scientific research team in the field of global high-end medical device design and R&D.

Moving forward, NCAMS will continue to foster scientific and technological innovation within applied mathematics areas, such as precision medicine, and contribute to the development of novel, high-quality products.

Founded in 1953, the iF Design Award is known as the “Oscar of the design industry”, setting the gold standard for global design excellence.

The award’s selection involves a rigorous two-stage evaluation by renowned design experts, covering criteria such as product design, innovation, functionality, and social responsibility.
