May 22, 2015, the CYL committee organized nearly 30 students to participate in public science open house activities shared the theme of “innovation and entrepreneurship, technology benefiting the public at Kuang-chi Advanced Institute of science and technology. Kuang-chi is an emerging high-tech company aiming at “change the world with innovations “. During this public open house activity, they displayed nearly 5 years of fruitful achievements in scientific research, so that we can truly feel the great charm of science and technology innovation.

During the visit, the staff introduce the technology of the metamaterials, metamaterials electromagnetic modulation technology of National Key Laboratory, “metamaterials” products and solutions, etc. Metamaterials is one kind of new artificial material beyond nature material electromagnetic response limits. With it, it will be able to achieve arbitrary regulation and artificial design of the electromagnetic wave propagation mode. The main application of the main including camouflage, color gold, ultra-thin flat-panel satellite antenna, super Wi-Fi, photon payment and other innovative products.

Subsequently, the students visited the product exhibition hall under the guidance of staff to experience the” intelligent photon” life. Students show strong interests to new technology and product experience, and technical staff to answer each question of theirs. One of the 13 class students said: “when I hear the flat panel satellite antenna are used in Beijing, Shenzhen Metro laid a super Wi-Fi, building the photon card project at Shenzhen Citizen Center, I really appreciate the great charm of science and technology and realize that innovation is making the world better”

When students found out Kuang-chi is offering internship to our school, they are very excited. We believe that in the near future, there will be students from SUSTC  active in the field of metamaterials!
