On November 19, Clarivate Analytics released its list of 2024 Highly Cited Researchers.

A total of 14 scholars from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) were selected.

This year’s list included 6,636 scholars from around the world, with China mainland ranking second with 1,405 scholars, accounting for 20.4% and more than twice that of 2018.

Among the scholars from SUSTech, four were selected from Essential Science Indicators (ESI) disciplines, namely Environment/Ecology, Materials Science, Immunology, and Plant & Animal Science; the remaining ten came from interdisciplinary disciplines.

The list of Highly Cited Researchers is released by Clarivate, and the data is collected from the ESI database. The 2024 list is based on highly cited papers from the period of 2013 to 2023.

These scholars have published many highly cited papers in the past ten years, with the papers’ citation ranking in the top 1% of the same discipline in the Web of Science™, demonstrating their important academic influence among their peers.
