The national finals of the 6th China Postgraduate Robot Innovation and Design Competition recently took place at the China Industrial Museum.

A team of graduate students from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), including Anjun HU, Shu BAN, Yue HONG, and their mentor Assistant Professor Jiankun WANG from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, won a second prize for their work, “Sky-Charger: Suspension Rail Charging Robot for Electric Vehicles”.

The competition attracted 1,200 teams from 186 universities nationwide, including top institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Harbin Institute of Technology.

A total of 326 works from 93 universities were shortlisted for the finals, with 27 first prizes, 80 second prizes, and 219 third prizes being awarded.

Focusing on new concepts, technologies, and products in robotics, the competition assessed graduate students’ abilities to address social needs through innovative design and key technology realization. The goal was to enhance postgraduate education, foster scientific research and innovation, and contribute to the growth of China’s robotics industry and technology.

The competition was sponsored by several prominent organizations, including the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education, the Children and Youth Science Center of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and the Robotics Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES). It was co-organized by Northeastern University, the Shenyang Municipal Committee, and the Shenyang Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
