The meeting started with a video introduction about the university, and was followed by discussions on big data platform technology, medical development and other topics which were covered in depth. SUSTech’s Director of the Office of Research Zhao Yousheng introduced the university’s current personnel situation as well as scientific research endowment and progress. Chair of the Department of Mathematics Xia Zhihong, SUSTech Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies vice chair Chen Wei and School of Medicine deputy director Zhang Jian then introduced big data systems as well as medical and related interdisciplinary research and developments.

Liu Wenxian then gave a speech at the meeting in which he pointed out that the state attaches great importance to big data platform technology and associated medical developments, and introduced the national strategic policy surrounding these areas. He expressed his support for the active participation of universities in the development of these fields and encouraged SUSTech to concentrate on its own advantages and play a leading role in national projects.

Guo Yurong then spoke at the meeting to introduce the situation of the university and express her gratitude to Liu Wenxian and his entourage for their timely interpretation of relevant policies. She also expressed her hope that a broader and more in-depth cooperation would be built on so that SUSTech may contribute to the development of these technological areas.
