Thursday 8 March was the 107th International Women’s Day, and SUSTech celebrated the occasion with special events for its female staff.

The first floor of the library hosted an exhibition titled “Half the Sky of SUSTech,” telling the inspiring stories of female staff. 34 photos were selected to show the wisdom and independence of female staff at work. “Half the Sky” comes from the Chinese phrase. “bànbiāntiān” which gives men and women equal rights and respect in Chinese culture.

The University’s Female Labor Committee and Office of Communication and Public Relations co-hosted the exhibition. University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong and President Chen Shiyi visited the exhibition.

SUSTech also prepared a gift for each of our female staff members, with a small card attached to the thoughtful present. Guo Yurong and Chen Shiyi visited the staff who were handing out the gifts and provided their blessings for the female staff in the rain.

Despite the cold and rainy weather in Shenzhen today, the blessing is warm-hearted and well-received by the staff.
