On the way ahead
Reaching the top
Campus donation
On December 13, 2014, a rare sunny day after days of dampness and coldness, the third “Walk for a Million” commonweal activity was launched at 8am in Lianhua Hill that shined in sunlight with the slogan of “Love for Shenzhen, Walk for Love”. 30 staff and students from SUSTC took part in it and walked steadily and competitively with laughter all the way from the foot of Lianhua Hill to Deng Xiaoping Statue Plaza on the top. And the fantastic views along the journey, blooming bougonvillea, singing birds and swinging tree branches, all brought a feel of spring warmth to those walking in winter.
From December 9 to 11, 2014, SUSTC Volunteer Team (SUSTC Public Welfare Organization) also held the campus donation which was well responded by our staff and students and resulted in a total donation of 3286.3 by the end.
This is SUSTC’s second participation in “Walk for a Million” after the one in Red Woods last year. In November this year, 33 SUSTC students with financial difficulties received a total of 100,000 RMB “Walk for a Million” grants, the very first time that Shenzhen Special Zone Daily Readers Charity Funds provided support for our school. Consequently our students gained a deeper understanding of the activity’s significance as it helped those around them. “Walk for a Million”, raising funds and spreading charity spirits through the healthy walking, inspires all participants and the recipients of the funds to study, work harder and live better as well as motives more people from various walks of life to join the commonweal undertaking and shoulder responsibilities.
