Canadian Academy of Engineering Academician lectures on his multi-faceted life

Academician Yu Ming of the Canadian Academy of Engineering travelled to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) towards the end of March. He came to give the 152nd lecture in the SUSTech Lecture Series, where he spoke about “My Journey as a Professor, Engineer, Manager, and Golfer.”

Yu Ming is a world-renowned speaker of IEEE International Microwave Technology and a tenured professor of Electronic Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has worked in the microwave industry for more than 30 years. His research scope includes 5G wireless communication base stations and next-generation satellite communication systems. He is an “amphibious” expert in industry and academia.

Professor Yu Ming introduced the development of microwave technology to the audience and gave his unique experience as an engineer, executive, and professor. Later, Yu Ming shared his unique learning methods and life experiences with his own examples. He particularly emphasized the importance of setting goals, persisting throughout the struggle, taking responsibility and being proactive. His philosophical view of the world filled the room with laughter and deep thought throughout his lecture.
