Earlier this month, a delegation from Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) accepted the invitation from HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York KG to attend the final of the Pitch@Palace Global 3.0, where the 2018 Pitch@Palace Global Entrepreneurs of the Year were announced. SUSTech Vice President Tang Tao and Vice Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao attended the finals.
At the beginning of November, HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York KG came to SUSTech and urged senior leaders to cooperate with British universities, particularly when it came to the university’s achievements in technology transfer, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
This year’s finals saw 23 global entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to an influential Audience at Pitch@Palace Global 3.0 at St James’s Palace. Pitch@Palace Global 3.0 is the culmination of 45 events that have taken place in Australia, Bahrain, China, Hungary, Singapore, UAE, the UK and Vietnam in 2018. Three of those teams were from China.
The teams were involved in industries as diverse as artificial intelligence, new materials, educational technology, biomedical technology, energy & sustainable development, industrial technology, and the analysis and management of data. The three winning teams were Logivan (industrial technology), OncoRes Medical (biotech and medical technology) and Matibabu (biotech and diagnostics). There was also a People’s Choice Award won by Alrawi (educational technology).
Through participating in this event, Tang Tao and Zheng Chunmiao spoke with many industry leaders about innovation and entrepreneurship. They took the opportunity to explore numerous opportunities for cooperation, to further broaden collaboration in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer. Organizers welcomed SUSTech faculty members and students to sign up for next year’s event in China.
