On the evening of December 27, 2018, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held the U-Run 2018 Sports Awards and New Year Fitness Night Running. SUSTech Vice President Tang Tao attended the event along with other senior leaders.
Many awards were handed out to students, residential colleges and student associations. 21 students received the “Advanced Sports Work – Individual” award and 15 won the “Excellent Sports Student” award. The top five athletes were rewarded for their prowess, as were ten students who received recognition as “Excellent Students in Physical Testing,” and another ten students were acknowledged for their excellence in running over 100 kilometers this semester.
Four of the six residential colleges received awards for “Advanced Sports Teamwork, three student associations earned “Special Group Contribution of the Year” awards and 7 students received “Special Individual Contribution of the Year” awards.
11 student clubs were recognized as “Excellent Sports Associations,” while 7 school sports teams were acknowledged as “Excellent Sport Teams.” A number of coaches received “Excellent Coach” and “Excellent Community Instructor” awards.
It was also announced that the top three teams from the SUSTech Science and Technology Sports Festival were Shude College, Zhixin College and Shuren College.
After the awards ceremony, the Sports Center staff led the tutors and students in dance activities before a stream of students ran through the campus. The chatter and giggling of those participating could be heard throughout the SUSTech grounds, encouraging others to invest their time and energy in night running in the future.
