On the morningof October 16th 2015, Zheng Xinli, group leader of “Shenzhen Research Group forEstablishing high-level and Research Universities”, came to our university withhis group for research. President Chen Shiyi, vice president and academic dean WuChuanyue, chief accountant Ye Qin and heads of relevant departments joined theresearch and discussion activities. The subject was carried out by ShenzhenDecision Advisory Committee and China Center for International EconomicExchanges together.

Zheng Xinli and his group visited thesand table for the construction planning of our university and our campus, andcame to the field to see the campus construction status, and inspected theconstruction of university laboratory. In the nanostructures laboratory ofDepartment of Physics, Zheng Xinli obtained detailed information about subjectplanning, laboratory conditions and main attack directions at present.

Afterwards the two sides carried outthe forum. In the forum, Chen Shiyi made a report to the research group on therunning principle of college, general situation of faculties, admissionsstatus. He said that at present Shenzhen is accelerating the construction ofseveral high-level and research universities, meanwhile our university isdeveloping rapidly, and we hope the research group to provide us with valuableadvice and suggestions for the construction of high-level and research university.

Zheng Xinli said thatShenzhen is the capital city of innovation, and the establishment of severalhigh-level universities will enrich the technological innovation resources andpromote and lead the development of the city. SUSTC is a university establishedby the whole city of Shenzhen, and the future development of the university shouldaim at promoting the construction of innovation ability of the city, so as to promotethe scientific and technological progress of Shenzhen and even the wholecountry. The construction of SUSTC should furthermore base on the institutional innovation of the education system ofour country and break down the constraint of thought.

Zheng Xinlisaid that the Third Plenary Session of 18th Central Committee putforward a very encouraging saying, which read “Select world talents for use”,world talents, here refers to talents not only in China, but from all over theworld. According to the present status of the construction of SUSTC, the research group suggests that in thefuture, the talent introduction and education in our university should learnhelpful experiences and attract the talents from the world, and gather theworld’s smartest and most creative talents to SUSTC to serve Shenzhen and ourcountry using high payment and scholarship.
