On October 25, 2016, David Richardson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Prof. Dabo Guan, Dean of the Department of Climate Change Economics, School of International Development, UEA visited Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Tang Tao, Chief Operating Officer Lu Chun and other executives of SUSTech met with the visitors.
In the talks, the two sides discussed the cooperation in fields such as the united water resources research center, undergraduate exchange program and graduate education.
UEA (University of East Anglia) has maintained close relations with SUSTech, especially in environment and climate change research. During Richardson’s first visit to SUSTech in April 2016, the two sides reached the initial intent on all-round cooperation; in June, Dave Petley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, UEA, visited SUSTech to discuss research cooperation and graduate education cooperation preparation; in September, Philip Gilmartin, Dean of the Faculty of Science, UEA led a scholar delegation of the School of Environmental Sciences to SUSTech for academic exchange and negotiation on graduate education cooperation; in October, Gilmartin led another scholar delegation to SUSTech for academic exchange with the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Biology, SUSTech, and for further discussion about graduate education cooperation.
